Ciao a tutti...solo poche righe per mostrarvi il risultato della mia prima classe con FINNABAIR! Beh...in realtà si tratta di una lezione on-line, ma sempre con la bravissima Anna, quindi in attesa di incontrarla di persona me la faccio bastare!!! Lol!

Hello everyone...just few words to show you the outcome of my first class with FINNABAIR! Well..actually is an on-line class, but with the amazing Anna, so...waiting to meet THE Finn in person, that will do!!! Lol!

Ho sempre ammirato molto questo tipo di collage...e mi ha sempre intimorito molto! Ma, sebbene il risultato sia un po' troppo 'pieno', devo dire che come primo tentativo ne vado fiera...Anna è un'ottima insegnante ed io mi sono divertita tanto a creare questa tela in sua compagnia...

I have always admired this sort of collage...and always been scared away! But, though the outcome is a little bit 'full', I must say that I'm very proud of this my first take...Anna is a very good teacher and I had so much fun creating this canvas along with her,,,

Steampunk ART...

Ciao a tutti! Oggi mi sono buttata su questa Tag decisamente Steampunk, soprattutto perchè non vedevo l'ora di provare i miei nuovi acquisti targati 'Finnabair'  ed utilizzare i bellissimi chipboard di Boozybear che ho vinto in QUESTA SFIDA sul Blog SanDee & Amelie's Steampunk Challenge.

Hello everyone! Today I jumped on this VERY Steampunk Tag, especially because I couldn't wait to use my new 'Finnabair' products (...well new for me) and some of the beautiful Boozybear's chipboards that I won for THIS CHALLENGE over at SanDee & Amelie's Steampunk Challenge Blog.

Ho usato un pezzo di cartone riciclato da una confezione, ho incollato pezzi di pagine di libro e del pizzo usando il 'Soft Matte Gel' della serie 'ArtBasics' di Finnabair/Prima, ho steso della Modeling Paste della 13Arts utilizzando lo stencil 'Harlequin' di Tim Holtz. Ho fatto asciugare bene ed ho coperto tutto con 'Heavy Black Gesso', poi ho deciso quali elementi aggiungere e li ho incollati con il '3D Matte Gel' sempre di Finnabair....un pezzo di chipboard l'ho incollato sulla tag come sfondo, mentre quei bellissimi ingranaggi li ho 'arrugginiti' un po' per creare un po' di contrasto.
Prima di passare agli ingranaggi, ho incollato il mio focal point formato da un cuore come base, un tappo, una fustellata di una farfalla (Detailed Butterflies Thinlits di Tim Holtz) ed una faccina realizzata con il mio nuovo stampo... Poi ho iniziato a dare delle pennellate di Art Alchemy Opal Magic Paint Aqua-Rose e Blue-Gold...mi sono innamorata dell'effetto di questi colori...meravigliosi.
Ho aggiunto le scritte e gli ingranaggi e la mia 'Steampunk ART Tag' è pronta...

I have used a piece of recycled cardstock, glued pieces of book pages and some lace using ArtBasics 'Soft Matte Gel' by Finnabair/Prima and added some Modeling Paste by 13Arts using Tim Holtz 'Harlequin' Layering Stencil. Let everything dry then covered up with 'Heavy Black Gesso'...decided what to add to the tag and glued down the heavy parts with '3D Matte Gel' always by Finnabair..,.used a piece of chipboard as background and decided to 'rusty' up a bit those beautiful gears to create some contrast.
Before attaching the gears, I added my focal point made with a heart as a base, a bottle cap, a die-cut butterfly (Detailed Butterflies Thinlits byTim Holtz) and a little face made with my new mold...
Afterward started to drybrush Art Alchemy Opal Magic Paints - Aqua-Rose and Blue-Gold...wow I love these paints so much...the effects are amazing!
Added words and gears and my 'Steampunk ART Tag' is ready...

Hello everyone...It's good to see you here once again! Today I'm gonna show you a new page of my Art Journal...I started this one thinking about the new Monday Challenge over at SIMON SAYS STAMP's Blog (HANDMADE FLOWERS)...then suddendly it took its own way...

Nello scorso fine-settimana io e la mia dolce metà siamo andati a Bologna a vedere la mostra della 'Collezione Gelman - Arte Messicana del XX Secolo'. Tra gli artisti, i più rappresentati e sicuramente più famosi (almeno qui da noi) erano Diego Rivera e Frida Kahlo. (Soprattutto per la loro storia personale, infatti erano presenti molte foto della loro vita insieme)
Adoro i lavori di Frida da anni, anche se spesso i suoi quadri, specie quelli più personali e 'brutali' mi trafiggono lo stomaco...ma non è forse questa la grandezza di un'artista? La capacità di suscitare sensazioni con il proprio lavoro? Sicuramente Frida è stata non solo una pittrice eccezionale, ma anche una donna straordinaria, capace di riversare nei suoi quadri il suo dolore e le sue emozioni e di trasmetterle agli altri come pochi riescono a fare.
Poter ammirare alcune sue opere da vicino...ed intendo proprio quasi con il naso sul quadro...è stato realizzare un sogno...

During last week-end, me and my sweet Hubby went to Bologna to the exhibition of the 'Gelman Collection - Mexican Art of the XX Century'. Among the artists, the most represented and famous (at least here in Italy) were Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. (Mostly for their personal story, in fact there were a lot of pictures  of their life together)
I've been in love with Frida's work for years, even if often her paintings, expecially the most personal and 'brutal' just hit me in the guts...but this is what an artist's talent is all about, isn't it? The ability to convey emotions through their work? Surely Frida has been not only a remarkably talented painter, but also an extraordinary woman, capable of pouring her sufferings, pain and emotions in her paint, and to make the viewers feel them. Only few artists can really do that.
Being able to admire her work so closely...meaning almost with my nose on the painting...has been like a dream coming true...

Quello in mezzo, ovviamente, è un mio tributo fatto tempo fa...
The one in the middle, obviously, has been made by me some time ago...

Ed eccoci tornati alla pagina di oggi...mi sembrava...'giusto' dedicare i miei fiori fatti a mano a lei, che se ne ornava sempre il capo, che li dipingeva perchè  'DIPINGO FIORI COSI' NON MORIRANNO'...

So here we are, back to my page...I thought 'appropriate' to dedicate my handmade flowers to her, who used them to adorn her hair, who painted them because ' I PAINT FLOWERS SO THEY WILL NOT DIE'...

Be Happy...Be YOU...a new SSS Challenge...

Ciao a tutti...oggi sono qui con una nuova pagina del mio Art Journal! Clamorosamente in ritardo per la sfida del Lunedì di SIMON SAYS STAMP...'Make your own Background'...
I prodotti della settimana sono della linea 'DYLUSIONS', quindi ecco cosa ho usato:

Hello everyone...today I'm showing you a new page of my Art Journal! Definitely late with the Monday Challenge over at SIMON SAYS STAMP...'Make your own Background'...
This week they are showcasing DYLUSIONS products, so here's what I have used:
- DYLUSIONS PAINTS: BLACK MARBLE
                                          WHITE LINEN
                                          CALYPSO TEAL
                                          SQUEEZED ORANGE
- DYLUSIONS STAMPS: ALPHABET (lower case)

Ho iniziato con una mano di gesso bianco, poi ho steso il colore acrilico 'Olive Green' della DecoArt Americana, con una salvietta umidificata, della Modeling Paste e sopra a questa  qualche tocco di 'Royal Fuchsia'.
Con il Blending Tool e degli stencil ho steso i Dylusions Squeezed Orange e Calypso Teal, poi ho aggiunto delle timbrate usando dei timbri Kaisercraft ed un tampone nero  della Hero Arts.
Ho asciugato il tutto e poi con l'aiuto di uno stencil ho disegnato dei cerchi, ho coperto il resto con il Dylusions White Linen, steso con le dita e spruzzato delle gocce di Black Marble.
Ho ripassato i cerchi con un pastello acquarellabile che ho poi sfumato con un pennello a serbatoio, ho disegnato gli steli ed aggiunto dei tocchi con un marker nero. Ho rifinito il bordo della pagina usando un Gelato nero.
Poi ho aggiunto le scritte con il timbro ALPHA, mentre la parola 'BE' l'ho fatta con la Dymo.

I started with white gesso, then covered the page with DecoArt Americana acrylic paint 'Olive Green', spreading the color with a baby-wipe. Added some Modeling Paste and once dry, colored with few touches of 'Royal Fuchsia'.
With a Blending Tool and some stencils I used Dylusions Squeezed Orange and Calypso Teal, then added background stamping using KaiserCraft stamps and a Black Hero Arts stamp pad.
Dried everything and, using a stencil, but you can use anything round as a template, I drew few circles here and there, covered everything else with Dylusions White Linen, using my fingers and splashed few drops of Black Marble.
Enhanced the circles with a black watercolor pencil and a water brush, did the stems in the same way and added few touches with a black marker. Used a Black Gelato to frame the page.
Stamped the words using the Dylusions ALPHA Clear Stamp, and wrote the words 'BE' with my Dymo.

Per la farfalla ho usato la fustella 'Sizzix Thinlits - Detailed Butterflies' di Tim Holtz, sono 2 soggetti entrambi formati dalla base che è una forma solida, mentre la parte superiore è una forma dettagliata.
Ho colorato la base usando tutti i colori usati per il background, mentre per l'altra ho usato il Distress Stain Tarnished Brass.

The butterfly is cut using 'Sizzix Thinlits - Detailed Butterflies' Dies by Tim Holtz. The image consists in a solid die-cut and a detailed one, so I painted the base using the same colors of the background and the other one using Distress Stain Tarnished Brass.

A TAG...BASED ON A BOOK...

Ciao a tutti! Eccomi alle prese con le nuove Sfide del Lunedì e del Mercoledì di SIMON SAYS STAMP...
Il nuovo tema di quella del LUNEDI  è "BASED ON A BOOK..." , mentre quella del MERCOLEDI è 'TAG YOU'RE IT'.
Devo dire che, dal momento che mi piace molto leggere, è stata dura scegliere il libro perfetto da cui trarre un progetto...Poi mi sono ricordata di un vecchio e rovinato libro di favole per bambini trovato in un mercatino...e quale migliore occasione di questa per utilizzare una pagina per farne una TAG?
Come tutte le favole, anche questa inizia con ..."C'era una volta..."...

Hello everyone! Here I am, having fun with another Monday and Wednesday Challenges over SIMON SAYS STAMP Blogs...
The new MONDAY theme is "BASED ON A BOOK..." , while the WEDNESDAY theme is 'TAG YOU'RE IT'.
I must say that, as I love reading very much, I was struggling, trying to find the perfect book for the perfect project...Then I remembered an old and battered Children Tales book, found in a flea market some time ago...the perfect occasion to use a page out of this book and put it on a TAG!
Like every Fairytale, this is how it goes..."Once upon a time..."...

Ho iniziato incollando una pagina del libro su di una Tag ritagliata usando le Framelits 'Tag Collection' di Tim Holtz, poi ho applicato vari Distress Inks usando lo stencil 'Flourish' di Tim Holtz...ho asciugato ed ho invecchiato i bordi con i Distress ink pads Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain e Black Soot. Poi ho lasciato cadere delle gocce d'acqua per un effetto ancora più invecchiato e rovinato.
Ho colorato un timbro Gorjuss con vari colori...Distress markers, pastelli acquarellabili e Polychromos della Faber-Castell, ho ritagliato l'immagine e l'ho incollata alla Tag usando del biadesivo spessorato. Con dei markers neri a punta fine ho scritto 'Once upon a time...' su di un pezzo di cartoncino per acquerello. Ho invecchiato la scritta usando il procedimento di prima ed incollata alla Tag.

Started glueing down a page on a die-cut Tag using Tim Holtz Framelits 'Tag Collection',  then used few Distress Inks with the Layering Stencil 'Flourish' by Tim Holtz... once dried I aged the tag with the following Distress Ink pads: Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Black Soot and then flickered some water for an aged and mottled effect.
I coloured a Gorjuss stamp using various tools...Distress markers, watercolor pencils and Faber-Castell Polychromos, fussy-cut(ish...Lol) the image and attached using foam adhesive. With fine black markers I wrote the phrase 'Once upon a time...' on a piece of watercolor paper, aged as I did before and glued to the Tag.

Il risultato finale mi piace molto...decisamente una Tag...Basata su un libro!!!

I really like the final result...definitely a Tag...Based on a book!!!
